Thank you for supporting Little Science Co over the last 5 years, you have been such a source of joy and wonder to me during the lifetime of the business, and I have made friends and connections that have had such a positive impact on me. I have chosen to close the business not because of bad experiences or lack of customers, it's purely down to time. I work full time in academic research, and I love my job. The business has grown faster and bigger than I had ever hoped, and I want to end it on a high. I am closing this wonderful chapter of my life so that I can focus on my research career. No doubt I'll get itchy and want to do something creative again once I've decompressed and had a break, so please do follow the Little Science Co social media accounts so that you'll know about any future ventures - @littlescienceco on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
In the meantime, if you'd like to keep in touch with me, my rants and hopeful progress in inclusivity in STEM and health research more specifically, you can follow me on Twitter (for more research stuff but obviously photographs of Barney too), and Instagram (mainly books and Barney to be honest) - both are @heidirgardner.
Thank you again for all you have done for me, please keep spreading the message that science is for everyone, and more importantly, please contribute to change so we can build structures, institutions and working environments to ensure that science is a safe and enjoyable place for all.
Themes Do Not Emerge! Qualitative Research Enamel Pin Badge
‘Themes Do Not Emerge!’ soft enamel lapel pin.
Pin badge measures approximately 24mm, and has two deluxe pin backings that will ensure your pin stays safely wherever you choose to put it.
Comes with Little Science Co backing.
This pin was designed after a Twitter conversation between myself (@heidirgardner and @littlescienceco), the Qualitative Research in Trials Centre at NUI Galway (@QUESTSCentre), and brilliant qualitative researchers Associate Professor Victoria Clarke (@drvicclarke) and Professor Virginia Braun (@ginnybraun).
Both Victoria Clarke and Virginia Braun are known within the qualitative research world for saying ‘themes do not emerge’ – head over to this Twitter thread to find out exactly why saying that ‘themes emerged’ is so problematic: https://twitter.com/drvicclarke/status/1014814432139141121
I post out orders once a week on a Wednesday, this is because I run Little Science Co alongside my full-time job as an academic researcher. This little passion project has grown more than I ever thought possible (thanks to you lovely people!), and I need to put some boundaries in place to ensure that I don’t burn out. If you really need your order to be posted out more quickly, please send me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and I will do my best to help you.
I use Royal Mail to buy postage online, and then I pop all orders in my local post-box to make sure I am minimising social contact as far as possible. Currently, Royal Mail remains open for business as usual, though they are understandably experiencing some delays due to the ongoing pandemic. International orders are also experiencing delays due to Brexit (not my choice… #ScientistsForEU).
At the checkout you will be asked to select either ‘standard’ delivery which is not a tracked service, or ‘upgraded’ delivery which is a tracked service. If you would like to be able to see where in the world your order is between its journey from me to you, please select the upgraded option. Please bear with me through this very strange period – I really appreciate your support and will do my best to make sure that your order reaches you in good time.
